A Primer to Water Heaters
A Primer to Water Heaters
Water heaters are obviously a very important part of any home. If you want to wash dishes effectively or take that hot shower, you’ll need a good water heater. It’s unfortunate, then, that most homeowners take their water heater for granted.
There are a number of things you should be aware of that can damage a water heater. If they are connected to lines with hard water, this could cause corrosion that leads to leaking. At best, with a leak, you could lose water pressure. Worse, if the leak corrodes part of the water heater, you may need to replace it.
As a water heater ages, it may rust or show wear. At this point, you should inspect the water heater regularly or you could come home one day to find your basement flooded and your water heater completely broken.
Typically, when all goes well, a water heater should only need to be replaced every decade. Leaks, corrosion, rusting, etc. could lead to a premature replacement. When this happens, you should absolutely contact a plumbing professional to install the new water heater.
The lines and fittings need to be secure and connected properly. As one of the most important parts of the plumbing system in your home, you want to make sure its installation is done correctly. Otherwise, you may need to acquire a preference for cold showers.
